This is my volcano it is a composite
volcano. it is made of paper mache,
cardboard and newspaper.
Introduction
There is one big question and that is what impact does volcanoes have in the world we live in. well if you read this report you will find out, also there is volcanic rocks and minerals in this astonishing report about volcanoes.
What are volcanoes/Nga Puia)?
Earth has four layers. The crust is the thinnest layer out of all the layers. Below the crust is the mantle which is hot melted rock like magma and it is 2,900 km thick. Under the mantle is the outer core which is made of hot liquid metal. The Earth’s center is called the inner core which is solid. Volcanoes erupt by magma building up in the magma chamber for about 1,000 years .and then the magma chamber gets so full all the magma comes out of the vents and when it comes out of the volcano the magma is called lava, that's how volcanoes erupt.
What type of volcanoes are there?
There are three type of volcanoes in the world active, dormant and extinct. A active volcano means it has at least erupted once in 10,000 years, a dormant volcano means it is asleep and it hasn't erupted in the past 10,000 years and a extinct volcano means if it hasn't erupted in the past 10,000 years it won't erupt again.
Volcanic rocks
Obsidian
Obsidian (tūhua) is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an igneous rock. It is produced when lava extruded from a volcano (puia) cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. It is was also used for tools in the stone age because of its sharpness and durability. Do you know that if you leave obsidian for a amount of time it will go cloudy.
Sulphur
Pure Sulphur is bright yellow. The color may be altered if impurities are present. Clay, as well as volcanic mixtures in sulphur can cause it to be slightly red, green, brown, or gray. sulphur (Whānāriki) often occurs in petroleum deposits, where it is found coated with greasy black petroleum. Also sulphur is the brimstone of the Bible.
Basalt
Basalt is a dark-colored, fine-grained, igneous rock composed mainly of plagioclase and pyroxene minerals. It most commonly forms as an extrusive rock, such as a lava flow, but can also form in small intrusive bodies, such as an igneous dike or a thin sill. It has a composition similar to gabbro. But gabbro is not a volcanic rock but it is a igneous rock.
Pumice
Pumice is used for cleaning and it also can be used to smoothen out something like for e.g skin leather etc. Pumice is like a white rock that is created with like a gas-rich it is also very light that is why it floats on water and you can find it in the ocean anywhere it is igneous rock and it is one of a lot of volcanic rocks.
Volcanic minerals
Aluminum, diamonds, gold, nickel, lead, zinc and copper are the volcanic minerals that come out of a volcano. There are also other type of volcanic minerals like obsidian and sulphur but they are also volcanic rocks as well plus they most commonly known as rocks.
Diamond
Diamond is the toughest mineral and gem in the whole entire world it’s toughness is 10 unlike ruby and saphire there toughness is only 9 people use it as jewelry and for machines cars and all sorts of stuff and it is apart of the carbon family diamonds are at least 1 billion years old or maybe older. It is brought out of volcanoes or you mine very deep and you’ll probably find it but it is rare.
Gold
Gold is a valuable mineral it is used for jewelry wires and etc. It is less rare than diamond because there’s more of it. It is a beautiful bright yellow metallic color it is not like iron it is much brighter and it shines so bright that you can see it from far away. Gold is shiny and is not a gem because it is not transparent. It is a rock and a mineral. Most gold is locked away in our banks.
Bauxite (aluminum)
Aluminum ore, called bauxite, is most commonly formed in deeply weathered rocks. In some locations, deeply weather volcanic rocks, usually basalt, from bauxite deposits. This sample of bauxite ore is from Western Australia. Aluminum has a wide range of common uses. It is lightweight, strong and conducts heat well. Many kitchen items like pots and pans, foil, dishes are made of aluminum. Most materials used for transportation use large amounts of aluminum: cars, trucks, boats, aircraft, and aircraft engines. Road signs and high-voltage power lines are also made mostly of aluminum.
Copper
This metal likes electricity and hates germs doctors use this metal to like keep bacteria and all sorts of yucky stuff that is related to germs, people used it for weapons in the stone age the used copper for weapons arrow tips blades all kinds of tools now it is used for jewelry (I think) copper is a metallic brown really good and it is very shiny like gold and platinum it’s just that it has a different color.
Nickel
Nickel is a type of volcanic mineral which looks like silver with a slight tingle of gold color. Nickel is a very useful mineral it is used for medical stuff mobile phones it is also used for magnetic and electronic things. Nickel is 9%-12% steel nickel based alloys is stainless steel.
What impact does volcanoes have that the world we live in?
Positive
Negative
.Farming
The ash makes good soil by the volcanoes and if you ever see a farm by a volcano that's the reason why they are there
.Heating
The magma is good for heating because it is really hot and it saves you money.
.Horticulture
The ash makes good soil for plants like flowers and trees as well as farming.
.Metals
Volcanoes can produce metals like copper, aluminum and nickel.
.Stones/ Rocks
Volcanoes can also make rocks like basalt, pumice and obsidian
|
.Pollution
The ash from the volcano makes Pollution because it make the air toxic.
.Harmful
All the lava and ash makes all the air and water poisonous and toxic.
.destruction
The lava can topple over buildings and ash destroys everything in its path.
.damage
The toxic air and lava can damage our lungs and badly injure us.
All of these bad stuff a caused by:
Lahar, lava, gases and ash.
